About The Centrist
The Centrist is the deceptively touchy-feely nom de plume of the filmmaker and writer, Jack Jewers. The first thing you need to know about him is: he is am a member of no political party. He does not, as Americans say, have a dog in this fight. Most blogs have a political bias towards one party or another. But he prefers to call it like he sees it. He is not here to tell you to vote Labour, or turn Conservative, or opt out and hug a Lib-Dem or tickle a Green. He does not have a party political agenda.
Don’t get him wrong, he is not opposed to any of those parties. He just does not believe that any one of them has all the answers. Not right now.
There was a time when politics could be seen as a big game. When those in Westminster could toy with our lives; pushing the pieces around a giant board. It was like one of those living games of chess, where you sit on the sidelines and order a pawn to move from this square to that square to see how that works.
Those days are over. But Westminster doesn’t know it yet.
The Centrist knows it. And he bets you know it. But they’re still running around the political barnyard like the chicken that doesn’t yet know its head is gone.
He started this blog to talk about what he sees happening in Westminster, and to get your perspective too. So please comment, and keep the conversation going.
The government doesn’t want a national discussion, and the mainstream press isn’t smart enough or good enough to lead it. We’re going to have to do this ourselves.
So let’s start talking about it. About all that’s gone wrong, and what we want from our government. Who will sit in our Parliament. What we should demand from those who would lead this country forward.
